I work as a senior research fellow at the School of Humanities of Tallinn University, Estonia, and as an adjunct professor of philosophy and cultural theory at the Department of Philosophy at Åbo Akademi University and of political history and philosophy of history in the unit of Contemporary History at the Department of Philosophy, Contemporary History and Political Science, University of Turku, Finland.
I am also editor of Rethinking History: The Journal of Theory and Practice and am involved in the promotion of research in the theory and philosophy of history through a number of other organizations, including the International Network for Theory of History (INTH).
My research and teaching focus on the theory and philosophy of history as well as literary and historical culture, with particular emphasis on the ethics and politics of historical representation, embodiment and existential phenomenology. A recent book, The Work of History: Constructivism and a Politics of the Past (Routledge, 2017), explores current theory debates and their implications for writing history today.
